My textile art started way back decades ago when my wife and I made several baby or crib-sized quilts together. I absolutely loved designing them and the way the materials and textures work together to make a three-dimensional art piece that is both beautiful and practical.
After a few years she taught me to use the sewing machine so I could work on them without her needing to be there. I made a series of larger quilts from a huge bag of scraps leftover from another church art project. My challenge to myself was to make one quilt top per week for 10 weeks.
Then a few years later I started making smaller wall-oriented quilts. They were never meant to be a useful item on a sofa or a bed. They were fabric art meant to be seen as such.
